Before
This beautiful desert hand painted picture depicts the Superstition, Red and Four Peaks Mountains. It is over 60 years old she didn't date it if you can believe it! It's huge approximately 5 feet by 10 feet!!! My Great Great Grandma Harriet Webb who was a great artist with many talents and painting was only one of them. She lived in Mesa and this was her view from her house. She gave it as a wedding gift to her son Tony who married Vera to my understanding. The frame Uncle Tony made was green and tan in color. I inherited this about 6 years ago from my Mom who got it from Uncle Tony Webb because none of his children wanted it after he passed away and Aunt Vera moved in with their daughter. Tony was brother to my Great Grandma Ruth Webb Crandell.
After
I taped it all off and painted it black. The pictures aren't as clear as I would like them to be. We all think it looks much better. I tried sanding it and we agreed it looked better more finished but I'm wondering if I should try and antique it with an ivory paint....any thoughts?
Anyways I'm so grateful to have this family heirloom in my home and appreciate it's majestic beauty.
