Ok I know McKenna is not 11 years old yet but she will be on the 21st. Eleven years ago I was big fat and pregnant her Daddy got me a necklace and made me a card to make for a wonderful first Mother's Day. Eleven years later I had a fantastic, super duper, best ever Mother's Day yet!!! I was really spoiled this year by McKenna, Calvin and Will! I woke up to a dozen roses and a nice card from Will and the kids....along with that Calvin had several items for me as well....he painted me a picture with q-tips that is very pretty, he made me a really cute hand prints card with a cute hand poem and he also made me the cutest card ever at school. I will have to write what it says in it tomorrow but it cracked me up and had lots of cute pictures he colored of he and I.
We then hurried off to church where we heard 6 wonderful men give sweet talks about their Mother & Wife in between those the primary children sang a Mother's Day song that was very sweet and then they were given a very pretty paper flower each to give to their Mom's as they returned to their seats (I got two a red & a yellow one but ended up giving one away to a friend in the ward whose children are grown Calvin wasn't very happy about that!), then for 3rd hour all of the women 18 and older got their classes covered by the men so they could go and enjoy a special Relief Society where we were given chocolate candy bars and listened to 3 great women speakers. It was awesome!
We came home, I tried calling my Mom but she was at church, Will bbq'd us a hamburger, we took a nap and then polished our nails. McKenna needed to finish her cards for me so she hurried after lunch and then gave me 3 handmade cards, a bookmark she made and then a jewelry heart box that she made herself while on a field trip a couple of weeks ago. (she hid it well and never slipped a word about it...they didn't get to use any tools just their hands to mold it etc) Calvin came in while we were polishing nails and did a good job polishing my finger nails as another gift for Mother's Day. :o) Finally got a hold of my Mom and talked to her for a little bit she liked the perfume and semi homemade card I sent...the cards are what matter the most to my Mom so they have to be good. Later for dinner Will had planned a special dinner for us at a friends house and the husbands did all of the cooking! We had Hawaiian haystacks with all of the fixings and homemade sauce which was so yummy! Topped it off with a dessert that I made but was easy brownie smores.
See what I mean....the best Mother's Day thus far in my Mothering career. :o) It is such an honor and privilege to be Calvin & McKenna's Momma and Will's wife!!! Thank you Thank you!
